The Rosetta Stone Labs R&D office is located in Boulder, Colorado and specializes in the research and advancement of speech processing and speech recognition technologies. We offer the opportunity to work with world-class experts to meet speech research and development goals. As a member of Rosetta Stone Labs, you will assist in meeting the company’s long-term vision by inventing new technologies that will enable and drive future products. Researchers at the Boulder, Colorado Labs R&D office implement, develop, and advance algorithms for speech recognition, speech analysis and synthesis, as well as assist as needed in developing and prototyping human language technologies for technology-enabled language learning.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Work collaboratively with world-class speech recognition experts to define and meet speech research and development goals.
* Assist in the company’s speech processing development by implementing and developing new cutting-edge algorithms for speech recognition, speech analysis & speech synthesis.
* Assist in developing and prototyping human language technologies for effective pronunciation feedback.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

* Basic knowledge of acoustic phonetics and representations such as IPA.
* 1-2 years of experience in the area of short-time speech signal processing
* Working knowledge of speech recognition and machine learning / pattern classification techniques
* Practical and theoretical knowledge of speech recognition technologies (e.g., HTK, SONIC, Sphinx, or comparable commercial technologies).
* Strong experience in C/C++ and Unix scripting languages such as Perl or Python
* Familiarity with conducting research using Unix-based operating systems (Linux, Mac OS X), knowledge of Windows programming a plus.

Minimum Requirements:

* M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related field with emphasis in speech processing and/or speech recognition topics.
* Clear demonstration of strong analytical and innovative research in the areas of speech processing, speech recognition, and/or speech synthesis.

Preferred Skills and/or Education:

* Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or closely related field with emphasis in speech processing and/or speech recognition topics.
* Direct experience developing speech recognizers or speech synthesizers. Practical understanding of speech processing & analysis/synthesis algorithms.
* Ability and initiative to drive projects is a must
* Strong problem solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues
* Excellent analytical and problem solving and research skills
