How to edit two files side by side in Notepad++ via linux terminal

Step 1: Download Tools:


Download WinSCP:      https://winscp.net/eng/download.php

Download Notepad++:  https://notepad-plus-plus.org/downloads/


Optional:

In case you do not have a linux terminal: you can download xshell:

https://www.netsarang.com/en/free-for-home-school/


Step 2: 

Once donwloaded and installed:

open WinSCP set up the sftp log in.

Options->Preferences->Editors-> Add...

Choose 

External Editor:

browse to:

C:\Program Files\Notepad++\

And choose:

notepad++.exe


Ok,

Then ensure the newly added plugin is the topmost one, if not, move it up. Then click ok.


Step 3:

Test, log in

Open any files, Notepad++ will be called instead of the default notepad.

Step 4: How to edit two files side by side in Notepad++  [1]:

Open the two files which you want to edit simultaneously. Right click on any one file’s tab and then select Move to other view which will split the screen into two for each of the file.


Of course, you can have more than 2 files open at the same and you can move any file into any view. Just follow the above said tip.
